God Carries Moms of Littles

Dear Moms of Littles,

I know you only have a minute or two because things are just CHAOTIC. You smell like spit-up and you haven't showered in days and you're tired of smelling your sweats to see if you can get one more day out of them. You can, by the way. Go for it.

But you might resonate with some Maybes. Maybe you expected to sleep. Maybe you expected that your children would be calm and compliant. Maybe YOU expected to be calm and collected. Maybe you thought motherhood would be something it simply is not.

I stand with you in the Maybes. And so does God.

In fact, God does even more than stand next to us in our motherhood. He's got some real gifts for you. See what Isaiah says about God and mothers:

Behold, the Lord God comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
behold, his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd.
He will carry the lambs in his arms,
holding them close to his heart.
He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.
— Isaiah 40:10-11

God does four beautiful things for those who are with young:

-Feeds you
-Carries you
-Holds you close to His heart

-Gently Leads you

Don't you need some nourishment, as you feed your babies?
Don't you need to be carried, as you carry your littles around?
Don't you need to be held close to God's chest, as your Little sleeps on yours?
Don't you need to be gently led and cared for and loved, as you pour out your energy and your life for others?

Yes. Yes you do. Thank God. He wants to do these things for you.

Soak in these truths today. Let them surround you like a warm bath that heals your brokenness and your bitterness. Let God's leadership and gentleness be your strength today. Go back and read that passage again.

And take one of those words, each morning this week, and let it wash over your unmet expectations and your frustrations.
Let it soften you and strengthen you.
Let it nourish you.
God is for you. Feeding, carrying, holding, leading you.

Maybe yesterday's make-up, unfolded onesies, and sour burp cloths will pale in comparison to the fact that God is for you. If you take a minute to see Him, that Maybe will turn to a Yes.

Affectionately,

A Mom With Littles
