I Want to See
There were some men back in the day that had heard about Jesus and wanted to meet him. They hunted down a couple of Jesus' disciples and said:
We want to see Jesus...can you help us?
So Andy and Phil took them to Jesus. And when Jesus lets Himself be found, He says this to these men:
"Listen carefully. Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you'll have it forever, real and eternal. If anyone of you wants to serve me, then follow me. Then you'll be where I am, ready to serve at a moments notice. The Father will honor and reward anyone who serves me." - John 12:20
Unless I die to what the world holds onto....then I won't have life. I am craving life...... joy, freedom, real sight, love, laughter, contentment. Life.
Looks like I need to see Jesus, die to the world and take up serving.
Die to Comfort.....embrace the sweat and toil that comes with daily tasks and chores and people-loving. Gal 6:8-9
Die to Laziness....embrace the hard work of life. Prov 13:4
Die to Entitlement.....claim my portion in front of me, call it good. Psalm 16.
Die to Comparison.....embrace freedom. Isaiah 61:1-4
Die to Envy and Jealousy and Strife.....claim peace. James 3:16-17
Die to Heaviness in my heart......embrace light-loads. Matt 11:28
Die to Fear.....embrace laughter....Provers 31:25
Die to Putting others Down......embrace building others up. Col 4:6
Whew....death seems hard.....but life....it comes. It always follows death. I've seen it. I'm going for it. Going for death.
